Dirtybird is Making Herstory with Women in Music Digital Festival

It’s Women’s History Month, and what better way to celebrate than with a proper femme-centric digital festival? Dirtybird has partnered with She is the Music for the four-day Women in Music digital festival to uplift femme-identifying dance artists across the globe from March 11th through 14th via Twitch. Dust off those dancing shoes and get ready for the girl-powered party of the year,

She is the Music is a nonprofit organization formed by Alicia Keys devoted to increasing the number of women working within the music industry. Via the SITM website, it can be seen that of the most popular songs of 2019, only 2.6% of engineers/mixers were women and of 651 producers credited on said songs, only 2.6% were women. It is clear there needs to be a shift in the scene, and Dirtybird has promptly risen to that challenge.

During this dynamic four day festival, expect a lineup stacked with some of the most beloved House and Techno queens around. The event will be headlined by Mija, and feature some iconic underground names: Nala, LOUISAHHH!, Worthy, Lauren Flax, and Black Girl/White Girl to name a few.

Ya’ll, it’s going to be one sexy and empowering weekend.

Like any great festival should, there will also be an extensive lineup of activations and programming. The event kicks off with a Yoga workshop led by Gina Turner and will be bolstered by several to-be-announced events throughout the weekend. Want to get involved? All femme-identifying fans are encouraged to contribute to the inaugural festival by sending the label a clip about what being women in music means to you. Your video may be shown throughout the weekend! You can submit your video here.

Spread love, and support women. See you in the chat!
