This blog post was created in collaboration with Zhou Nutrition.
When the weather starts warming up, my body immediately starts craving smoothies for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The thing with smoothies, though, is that it is such a delicate balance to making one that tastes good, looks pretty, is nutritious AND not too packed with sugar. However, if you’re looking for one that checks all of these boxes- you have stumbled onto the right blog. Enter, my Energizing Green Smoothie full of delicious fruits, greens, and superfoods. This beautiful smoothie gives total tropical vacation vibes. It is an amazing source of fiber and antioxidants while also being extremely hydrating. And if this is your first time putting basil into a smoothie, prepare to have your taste buds rocked. Basil adds a unique sweetness while still bringing some savory flavors to the smoothie. The star player of this recipe, though, is Zhou Nutrition’s Spirulina powder.
Spirulina is a rockstar superfood that works wonders on its own, but also uplevels any smoothie. Spirulina is a blue-green algae that is proposed to be the most nutrient-dense food on the planet. It contains the highest concentration of protein of any plant, herb, or animal on a gram per gram basis. It contains more essential amino acids, iron, protein, B vitamins, and vitamins C, D, and E than chlorella. Just two servings a day equals as much as 7+ servings of fruits and vegetables in terms of antioxidant content. All of this to say, Spirulina is a powerful superfood that, if taken regularly, you will see improvement in your gut and skin-health while also boosting your immunity and energy liveles. With any new addition to your diet- it is important to take it slow and consult your doctor if you have any worries.
